Meet Do Good Trainers

Designers before Educators

In 2015, the APT811 team saw a growth in the drive of young students wanting to make positive changes in the world. In turn, we recognised that we had the capabilities to help these youths accomplish these goals through our knowledge in design.

Frequently ask questions

[description goes in here] lorem ipsum is a placeholder text to demonstrate the visual form of a typeface.

My child doesn’t know what design thinking is. Can they cope with it?

Yes. Our workshop is designed for children who are new to design thinking principles.

The course is paced to ensure that every child, regardless of their prior knowledge, can participate and benefit. We emphasize your child’s natural curiosity and guide them through each step of the design thinking process.

Throughout the workshop, we provide examples and hands-on activities to help them understand and apply the concepts, making it accessible and engaging.

What is the widely recognised design thinking framework?

The widely recognised design thinking framework consists of five stages: Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. This process encourages creativity, user-centered thinking, and continuous improvement.

Our design thinking workshop is unique with two extra steps: "Market" and "Strategise." These phases teach your child to communicate ideas clearly and develop long-term plans.

My child has attended previous design thinking workshops before. How is your workshop different?

Our workshop goes beyond just teaching the design thinking mindset.

We focus on "design doing," where your child learns practical skills to implement their ideas. Unlike other workshops that may only cover the theory, we teach your child how to think like a designer, market their ideas like an entrepreneur, and plan for long-term success like a strategist.

This holistic approach ensures they not only understand design thinking but also know how to apply it effectively in real-world scenarios.

Why does your workshop have two additional steps in the 5-step design thinking process?

We believe that understanding how to market and plan for the long-term success of ideas is as important as the initial stages of design thinking. Our workshop includes two extra steps: 'Market' and 'Strategise'.

Market: Teaches effective communication of ideas, understanding the audience, and presenting confidently.

Strategise: Focuses on long-term planning, sustainability, and impact, preparing your child for future leadership roles.

These additions make our workshop comprehensive, equipping your child with skills to innovate, market, and sustain their ideas.

Why is your workshop conducted over two days (4 hours each day)? Is it sufficient for my child to understand design thinking?

Yes, two days is sufficient.

Our fast-paced, hands-on workshop ensures that children are actively engaged and learn through practical activities. Over multiple iterations, we’ve found that this format is optimal for teaching essential skills and helping students realise their potential.

The workshop builds their creative confidence and provides a memorable experience, reinforcing the mindset and techniques of design thinking.

What topics are covered in your workshops?

Our workshop covers a range of topics relevant to school curricula and emerging trends.

These include healthy living, environmental sustainability, reducing water and electricity consumption, green transportation, and mental well-being.

The themes align with Ministry of Education (MOE) Character and Citizenship Education, addressing real-world issues such as social inequality, respect in diverse societies, and environmental sustainability.

What type of prototyping will your workshop cover?

Our workshop focuses on drawing and storyboarding prototypes.

We prioritise the thinking process and clarity of ideas rather than creating perfect physical prototypes. This approach helps students concentrate on proof of concept and effective communication.

What does my child need to bring to the workshop?

Your child should bring the following:
• Smartphone with 4G/5G connection
• Water bottle
• Writing materials
• Jacket/long sleeves if they feel cold

Will there be breaks during the sessions?

Yes, there will be breaks between activities to allow participants to rest and take toilet breaks.

Will you be serving food and lunch during the workshop?

We will provide light refreshments during breaks. Lunch is not provided, so please ensure your child eats before the workshop.

Can I sit in and observe my child during the workshop?

We do not recommend parents sitting in during the workshop.

However, parents are welcome to join during the final presentation period, which is one hour before the end of the Day 2 workshop.

What workshop materials will be provided?

We will provide:
• Worksheets
• Poster templates
• Sticky notes
• Pens and child-safe water-based markers
• Paper sheets (small and large)

Will there be a certificate for participants at the end of the workshop?

Yes, each participant will receive a certificate at the end of the workshop. Please provide us with the desired full name to appear on the certificate during registration.

Can my child bring back the work done during the workshop?

Your child can bring back their personal worksheets. Group project items, such as final presentations, are usually photographed by participants to include in their personal portfolios.

Will the workshop be recorded?

Yes, we will record the workshop for documentation purposes.

Only key highlights will be shared on social media for promotional materials. Let us know your child’s preference if they do not wish to be filmed.

Can you share the photos of the workshop with us?

Curated photos will be shared with parents a week after the workshop.

What happens if my child doesn’t want to be filmed or photographed?

We will place a sticker on your child to indicate to our team to avoid taking photos and videos of them.

I am interested in future workshops. Do you offer any other workshops beyond an introduction to design thinking?

Yes. We are developing future workshops on various themes, including:
• Resilience in Youths
• Young CEO
• Sell with Confidence
• Thinking in Prompts & Frameworks
• Young Strategist
